Coffee from El Salvador is more than a product—it’s a living legacy. For four generations the Alfaro family has cultivated strict‑high‑altitude, shade‑grown beans nurtured beneath biodiversity‑rich canopy trees, crafting flavors roasters crave while protecting the wildlife corridor that runs through our estates. This is the story behind every bean you taste from Alfacomer.

"Every harvest honors the traditions that turned a small farm into a trusted source of specialty coffee from El Salvador to the world"

Our Estates lies at the heart of the Mesoamerican Biological Corridor, a vibrant green belt stretching from Mexico to Panama. In El Salvador, this corridor is deeply tied to the coffee forest—where over 80% of coffee is grown under shade.

By preserving native canopy, we:

  • Enrich soil and protect local watersheds.

  • Capture carbon and reduce erosion on volcanic slopes.

  • Provide essential habitat for migratory birds that depend on coffee forest every year.

This synergy between ecosystem and agriculture gives each lot of coffee from El Salvador its distinctive, vibrant cup profile.

Its unique tail moves like a pendulum to signal predators that they’ve been seen—helping the bird avoid being chased or attacked.

Fiercely territorial, this small bird guards its nectar sources with courage—buzzing through the coffee trees with incredible speed.

Often seen in social groups, up to 11 adult jays may help feed chicks in a single nest—showcasing remarkable cooperative behavior.

Winged Life That Shares Our Coffee Landscape

This natural ecosystem is not just the source of our coffee; it’s a living sanctuary for migratory birds and diverse wildlife that travel across the Americas every year. Our commitment to preserving this environment is part of every bean we produce.

Shade-Grown Coffee, Naturally Sustainable

Our estates are not just coffee farms—they are ecological reserves.

By growing coffee under shade, we support biodiversity, improve soil health, and protect local water sources. This traditional and sustainable method of cultivation results in better flavor profiles while contributing to the long-term health of the land.
